Aguas Nuevas is a central area of Torrevieja in Spain. It is a calm area close to the beach and with minimal traffic, making it a prime location for families. It enjoys excellent services with the whole of Torrevieja in proximity. Aguas Nuevas consists of lovely urbanizations, with private bungalows, town houses, and villas. These are green, spacious, and usually with a communal pool to enjoy! Where is Aguas Nuevas Located?

Aguas Nuevas is located in the central part of Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca in Spain. It is bordered by Nuevas Torrevieja in the South, Playa De Los Locos in the East, and Torre La Mata in the North. The N-332 and AP-7 connect it to surrounding towns, such as Orihuela Costa and Alicante.

What to do in Aguas Nuevas 

Beaches

Aguas Nuevas lies a couple of minutes land inward, but close to the beaches of Los Locos and Del Cura. These beaches carry the blue-flag award for safety and hygiene. They’re family-friendly, and come equipped with all services: lifeguards, first aid, sun chairs, ramps, foot showers etc.

They consist of fine gold sand and clear waters full of fish. A variety of water sports is offered here: go fishing on the rocks, snorkelling, diving, or rent a jet-ski, paddleboards or a boat. The calm waters and hot sun will definitely give you a lovely day at the beach. The cliffs also make for a beautiful walk alongside the coast. 

Water park Aquopolis

This water park has attractions for adults and children of all ages. We recommend you to reserve tickets to get in quicker and book cheaper. It is described as a great day out!

The park is clean and there are invested lifeguards present. They keep a close eye on all the attractions. Sunbeds and safety lockers are available for a fee, and drinks/food can be purchased at the restaurants. Don’t forget to bring plenty of sunscreen and water! Furthermore, bring flip-flops, as the flooring can get hot in the summer. 

There are calm rides and special children areas, where there is supervision, so they can play undisturbed. Then the moderate rides, for slightly older children and adults. These are the classic water attractions that will show you the essence of the park. If you want to make it more exciting, try one of the high excitement rides: fast, high, and will get your adrenaline pumping. 

Aquopolis also organizes events. They have a miniclub, for children who are not yet very skilled in the water. They organize activities throughout the day, such a painting, balloon games, or bowling, so the smallest ones are also entertained! Or try the Aqua gym or Step classes: dancing/fitness routines that take 30 minutes. 

Ticket prices lay between €16.95 and €26.95 and there are discounts for younger children, elderly, and groups. Or get an all-inclusive bracelet: €32 for adults and €27 for children. 

Sport facilities

On the West end of Aguas Nuevas is an industrial terrain that has been transformed into an important part of this area. Here is the earlier said water park, but also the sports facilities are here:

Multiple high schools are also located here, together with language school Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Torrevieja.

Friday market

Every Fridayy morning from 8 AM until 1 PM on La Avenida de Delfina Viudes (Aqua park parking lot). This is a big market with about 700 stalls, where you can easily find bargains for clothing, fruit, vegetables, leather, shoes, handbags, bedding, curtains etc.

It is a vibrant happening, with many sounds, smells, and sights. Many stalls offer authentic leather bags, sunglasses, baby clothes etc. It is not a tourist market! The atmosphere is cosy and local, with people catching up after the week.

The real thrill is the foods stalls, with an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables for low prices. You’ll find freshly baked bread and cakes. You can even score breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice here! Come early, so you’ll be ahead of the crowd.

Nightclubs

Lastly, we find Zona El Parking, designed to cover all the needs of nightlife. This is the nightclub and pub area with:

4. Restaurante Insaciable

5. Velice nightclub

This is a popular spot for youth and party-seekers. Since it’s so close to the centre of Torrevieja, it is easily accessible. Especially with the row of taxis in front. 

Other noteworthy activities in and around Torrevieja

Torrevieja has so many things to do, we can’t start laying them all out. So, here are some more of our favourite things to do in this city:

1. Visit the Salt Lakes or the Salt Museum in La Mata

2. See the Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción 

3. Go to Parque de las Naciones, a green family park with animals. 

4. Golf in one of the 5 award-winning courses in Orihuela Costa

5. Shopping in La Zenia Boulevard, the biggest shopping mall on the Costa Blanca

6. Go-karting in Punta prima

7. Wakeboarding in the harbour 

8. Take the glass-bottomed pond over to the island of Tabarca

Services in Aguas Nuevas 

The services in this area are well set. This area has many full-time residents, so it makes sure it covers all their needs. Important amenities are close by. The international hospital is only 9 minutes away. As for other urgent matters; post offices, dentists, and pharmacies are never more than 15 minutes away.

 When it comes to supermarkets and shopping, there is a Lidl, ALDI, and Dia at the western border. Furthermore,  here are local grocery stores and kiosks on many street corners. 

In this area, there are many schools, elementary as well as high schools. It is a good area for families with children since there are many daycare centres here. Furthermore, everything from butchers to tailors is nearby here.

Climate and weather in Aguas Nuevas 

This area has a great climate. The summers are warm and the winters are mild. The location between the sea, the salt lakes, and the mountains formed a special climate. This microclimate has clean air, with extra Sodium and Iodine in it. This has health benefits for people with conditions of the skin, heart, or lungs. Just living in proximity to this area can improve general health. According to the WHO, it is one of the healthiest climates in the world! Moreover, you get 325  sunny days a year, with an average temperature of 18.3 degrees Celsius. 

Property market in Aguas Nuevas 

Aguas Nuevas is a well-sought after area because it is close to the beach front but without the crowds and traffic. It’s excellent for families, due to the great facilities and a calm environment. Many people have their full-time residency here.

The area is made up of mostly private urbanizations with bungalows, villa’s or town houses. There are fewer flats in this area. You’ll find the urbanization of Calas Blancas: bungalows surrounding a park, church, sports field and 3 communal pools. Or green villa area Los Angeles with its many parks. Los Olivos is another liked urbanization in this area. 

The properties here are slightly cheaper than the ones towards the beach front. However, you’ll get much more in services and privacy. 

Aguas Nuevas has a mixed population of Spanish and Northern-European residents. Although all nationalities live among each other, there are also small communities where you can enjoy your language abroad. The small-town feeling lives on here, even though the city counts over more than 80.000 residents. The level of spoken English is good and people are more than happy to help you in English where possible. People live outside here, and during the day you will see children running the playgrounds and parks. It's a truly pleasant place to live!
