The Beach

The area is named after the beach. It consists of fine-golden sand and clear blue water. No wonder it has received the blue-flag award for safety and cleanliness!  There are plenty of places are to sit and eat, sun chairs to relax, and free parking. Some areas in the water are rocky, and excellent for snorkelling or fishing.
Moreover, the beach has good services: it is wheelchair accessible thanks to a ramp that goes all the way around the beach. During high-season there are lifeguards present with 4 watchtowers and a first aid room.
It is also one of the few beaches where you’ll find a platform in the water, as well as a climbing pyramid and ropes to climb. You can rent paddleboards or even a jet-ski. This beach is equipped for everybody, whether you want to have an active afternoon, or a lazy day in the sun.

Another great asset of this area is its offer in eating-facilities. On the promenade are many restaurants and café’s. During the day they offer cheap daily menu’s. You can have a starter, main course, and depending on the place, a coffee of deserts for around €12. This to fill the restaurants until the Spanish have their late lunches. Other of our favourite recommendations are:
Restaurante La Boca, international cuisine with great service. The plates are decorated with care and the prices are good. They also serve nice wine, depending on what you’re having.
Restaurante El Tiburon, highly recommended by locals for their Spanish and Mediterranean kitchen. With views on the ocean, a strong service team, and delicious paella’s.
Nordic Café & Brasserie, Scandinavian cuisine. Come here for a taste of the North, nice views, and amazing fresh fish.
Restaurante Magnata, for Mediterranean food with a modern atmosphere. It is bright, fresh and definitely recommendable.
El Sabor Indian Restaurant, great quality Indian, served by friendly waiters. Their Tikka Masala is delicious and the prices are good.

The property market in this area is diverse. The proximity to the coast gives it popularity, which resulted in the construction of many flats, town houses and villas. Most of these are resale properties and are to be found in private urbanizations such as Calas Blancas Del Mar II, Aldea Del Mar, and El Palmeral.
On the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line, you’ll find some well-priced flats. Moving up, there is popular urbanization Aldea Del Mar: a little more pricey, but beautiful Spanish architecture. Here is also a large pool with a restaurant. There are the three Las Atalays towers: pretty flats with an impressive view for a reasonable price.
