Cabo Roig is a privileged beach paradise with all services one can wish for. Its beaches are phenomenal and the historic watchtower still stands proudly over the low-rise skyline. Where is Cabo Roig located?

Cabo Roig is a beach resort, located on the Costa Blanca in Spain. It is part of the Orihuela Costa municipality, bordered by neighbours La Zenia and Dehesa De Campoamor. Murcia-San Javier airport is 18 minutes driving. The areas connect through the national N-332 coastal road and AP-7 motorway and have a good public transport system. Regular buses run to hospitals, the nearby golf courses, and the shopping centre. 

What is special about Cabo Roig?

In our opinion, Cabo Roig wins the prize for best beach in Orihuela Costa.  Playa Cala Caleta is a tropical gemstone, hidden behind the cliff. You access the beach by descending a stone pathway that gives you marvellous views of the ocean. 

You come down onto fine golden sand and are left with several options:  Enjoying the warm Spanish sun, swimming in the clear blue water, going for water sports, or enjoying the top-notch beach bar. 

La Caleta Beach Bar is open 365 days a year and serves quality food and drinks. Even better, they provide live music every Sunday afternoon. The group ‘Kolted’ plays from 15:00 until the sun goes down. 

We can tell you: it is a success. The well-known cliff walk takes us up North, all the way up to La Zenia If you’d wish. On a clear day, you can catch a glimpse of La Manga from here. This route is scenic and shows you the best of Cabo Roig.  You pass the harbour, coves, and then the next beach:

Playa Cala Capitan is justifiably popular as well. It has also been awarded a blue flag, meaning it is safe and clean.  The North consists of a small cove with rocky sides. The middle part is best for sunbathing, and the cliff shelters the South part. Here you’ll find locals that enjoy the shade and long sunsets. This area is ideal for diving or snorkelling. 

Moreover, a children’s play area, volleyball court, alongside ramps for people with limited mobility, make this beach perfect for everybody.  The whole family can enjoy themselves here. 

There are plenty of parking spaces for both beaches. During high-season there are lifeguards present, just as showers and beach equipment. They are cleaned daily.  Cabo Roig worked hard to optimize this beach environment, and it has paid off. 

What services does Cabo Roig provide?

Food & Drinks

Landward we find the Cabo Roig strip: a lively collection of restaurants, pubs, shops, and even nightclubs, like the famous Bushwacka Australian Pub. On St Patrick's Day, the strip turns green, as the many Irish residents come here to celebrate. It’s a good location to find quality meals; we recommend La Capricciosa for their great pizza and Restaurant Cala Capitan for fresh seafood and Flamenco performances.  Furthermore, make sure to check out the Diovio Cocktail bar for the best drinks.

The Harbour

The Cabo Roig Harbour has good reviews. It is a small but warm marina next to Caleta beach that provides an abundance of water sports. You can rent jet skis, paddleboards, a banana boat, or just have a look at boats. The water is so clean, you can see shoals of fish swimming in between these boats. Restaurant Bahia has a lovely terrace here with views over the marina and beach. 

Important amenities

You can find supermarkets and pharmacies all over Cabo Roig. For more shopping, take a short 7-minute drive to La Zenia Boulevard, where you’ll find over 150 stores and amenities. Fresh fruits and vegetables can be found on a Thursday street market in nearby Campoamor. The closest hospital is in Torrevieja, as well as several health centres and English-speaking dentists. Ten minutes inland you have El Limonar international school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. Thanks to Orihuela Costa’s good infrastructure, all amenities are within proximity. 

Golf

Within 10 kilometres you have four award-winning golf courses available. ‘Las Colinas Golf & Country Club’ has won multiple awards for its 18 hole par 71. ‘Villamartin Golf’ has been called the best golf course in Spain, and both ‘Las Ramblas Golf’ plus ‘Campoamor Golf’ stand out for their immaculate landscapes, as well as their facilities. With ‘Lo Romero Golf’ in Pilar De La Horadada at only sixteen minutes driving, this is a golfer's heaven. 

How is the climate in Cabo Roig?

Cabo Roig’s climate is fortunate. The WHO has come out to say it has one of the healthiest climates in the world, due to its special microclimate. The position by the ocean, with nearby salt lakes and mountain ranges, creates incredibly clean air. Sufferers of skin-, lung-, or heart diseases, thrive in this environment. Besides that, it has 325 sunny days on average, with temperatures staying comfortable all year round.  

How is the property market in Cabo roig?

Cabo Roig provides a privileged real estate market, with a lot of attention for international residents.  The population is mostly Northern-European and Spanish. Properties in Orihuela Costa are generally more expensive than in its neighbouring areas, but you get value for this price. 

Near the coast, we see an increase in the price, detached villas, and typically larger plots. Inland we find lower prices, smaller housing plus also new developments. In the South area are some flat complexes, most of which are holiday homes. Properties are low-rise and there is a large selection of town houses, flats, as well as villas in this highly sought after area.
